“To ease hemophilia patient’s difficulties and pain management government has provided “Hemophilia Care Centre” facilities since 2012. Treatment for hemophilia patients was provided free of charge in government hospitals. Hemophilia Society Surat chapter members have contacted responsible officials to provide care at the New Civil Hospital Surat. Initially, after conducting tests in the OPD department to assess the need for factor replacement therapy, patients would usually receive the treatment in the ward. Due to the difficulties they were facing in movement from OPD to ward and so on and with attention to their condition, the Hemophilia Society Surat Chapter members such as late Mr. Mukeshbhai Marchawala, Mr. Nileshbhai Jarivala, Mr. Jitendrabhai Patel, Mr. Shashikantbhai Palsana, and others contacted then medical authorities at the new Civil Hospital in Surat, Dr. Maheshbhai Vadel, and pediatrician Dr. Vijaybhai Shah. With their service and assistance, a proposal for establishing a Hemophilia Care Center was submitted, and it was inaugurated on 24/04/2015 by the then state’s Principal Health Secretary Mr. Anilbhai Mukim, Trustee of the Hemophilia Society Surat Mr. Virendrabhai Majmudar, Dr. Maheshbhai Vadel, Dr. Vijaybhai Shah, Dr. Dikshit, and other dignitaries. This occasion was attended by hemophilia patients, their family members and community leaders. The Hemophilia Care Center, with support from the Hemophilia Society Surat Chapter and cooperation from the new Civil Hospital, organizes various programs including periodic blood testing camps for the celebration of every religion’s festivals at the centre. Currently, the Hemophilia Care Center – Surat is exemplary for the entire state. The staff at the center provides empathetic support to patients, ensuring care without hesitation or fear, and offers counseling, medical examination rooms, counseling rooms, laboratories, nursing rooms, and a ward for patient care. After receiving care for their condition, patients are provided necessary counseling followed by physiotherapy sessions as advised by physiotherapists. The Hemophilia Care Center is a blessing for hemophilia patients.”
